I'm old enough to remember when John Lennon of the Beatles said "Christianity will go. We're more popular than Jesus right now."
The UK had no problem with this obvious truth.
Idiot America cried like a baby. Americans are god-soaked idiots. This country is equal to or worse than the Muslim theocracies.
From Jesus Mania: The Evolution of a Statement:
It all started in 1966 when Lennon sat down with friend and reporter Maureen Cleave of the London Evening Standard and made the mistake of being too lax with his tongue. He told Cleave, “Christianity will go…we’re more popular than Jesus now; I don’t know which will go first—rock ’n’ roll or Christianity.” The quote was a small part of a 2000+ word article that was published in March of that year; it went over fine with the UK readers and Lennon walked away unscathed. But when the quote was reprinted on the front cover of the US publication Datebook five months later, TIME reported that “all hellfire broke loose”. Radio stations banned the Beatles’ music, calling them “absurd” and “sacrilegious”, trying to send a message that they couldn’t get away with their blasphemy. Stations as far as Spain and South Africa followed suit, joining in the boycott. Birmingham Radio Station WAQY made announcements every hour on the hour encouraging fans to burn their records. The KKK held demonstrations and issued death threats against the band.

This is something I didn't know before. The deranged asshole who murdered Lennon was Christian asshole.
"On December 8th, 1980, Lennon was murdered by 'Jesus freak' Mark David Chapman."
From wikipedia: "In 1971, Chapman became a born again Christian, and distributed Biblical tracts. He'd grown up idolizing Lennon, but turned on him after becoming born-again: like many born-again Christians, he was angered at Lennon's comment that the Beatles were more popular than Jesus."
Christian scum are terrorists. I'm not surprised.
"Darwin was the first to use data from nature to convince people that evolution is true, and his idea of natural selection was truly novel. It testifies to his genius that the concept of natural theology, accepted by most educated Westerners before 1859, was vanquished within only a few years by a single five-hundred-page book. On the Origin of Species turned the mysteries of life's diversity from mythology into genuine science." -- Jerry Coyne
