An omnipotent god could do anything (we guess), but one who is omnipotent, serious, and thoughtful (at least as serious and thoughtful as an exemplary human) would not route wiring from giraffe’s larynx around its aorta.
The routing we see in the giraffe makes the nerve at least ten times longer than a direct route, which requires more material to make the nerve and makes the nerve impulses take at least ten times longer to reach their target. It also exposes ten times more nerve to damage. The giraffe routing is not only unintelligent, it's spectacularly unintelligent! There are thousands of examples like this in nature, where evolution has created peculiar structures that would be far better if they were designed rather than evolved. In fact, just about everywhere you turn in biology, there are stupid "designs" that no intelligent designer would make. Contrary to Dr. Hunter's claims, these are some of the most convincing examples of why evolution must be true. In each case the "stupid" design makes perfect sense when you look at the complete history of how that feature evolved.
This is one of my favorite evidences for evolution. This evidence is strong, easy to understand, and people can see it with their own eyes. This evidence shows we most definitely have fish ancestors. Uneducated people think this is a ridiculous idea and it's impossible. They prefer the magical creation of species instead of science. They are wrong.
There's countless thousands of other evidences for evolution but this one is very interesting.
Why is the laryngeal nerve in human apes 2 feet longer than necessary and in giraffes 15 feet longer than necessary? That's a good question and evolution explains it.

The structures around the nerve and the nerve itself are homologous to each other and so evolutionary theory postulates that animals evolve from others by distortions and changes in these structures. In fish, considered to be more evolutionarily primitive, the nerve heads straight from the brain, down to the larynx. However, in mammals, the structure of the head and development of the neck from fish-like organisms cause the recurrent laryngeal nerve to become 'trapped' under the aortic arch in the thorax. Given a slow and gradual evolution from the biology of a fish to the biology of a mammal, there is no way for the nerve to magically jump from one side of the aortic arch to the other. And so, in mammals the nerve controlling the larynx first delves deep into the chest cavity and then finally up to the larynx."

Of course evolution explains it. Evolution explains everything we see when studying creatures living today and creatures who went extinct a long time ago.
The 15 foot laryngeal nerve in a giraffe, much longer than necessary, is only 2 inches long in a fish. This is evidence for the idea that land animals evolved from fish. Actually it's more than an idea. It's an obvious fact of science.
