Why is the Republican Party infested with anti-science theocratic Christian assholes?

A quote from Barry Goldwater, Republican candidate for president in 1964:

“Mark my word, if and when these preachers get control of the Republican party, and they're sure trying to do so, it's going to be a terrible problem. Frankly, these people frighten me. Politics and governing demand compromise. But these Christians believe they are acting in the name of God, so they can't and won't compromise. I know, I've tried to deal with them.”

"However, on religious issues there can be little or no compromise. There is no position on which people are so immovable as their religious beliefs. There is no more powerful ally one can claim in a debate than Jesus Christ, or God, or Allah, or whatever one calls this supreme being. But like any powerful weapon, the use of God’s name on one’s behalf should be used sparingly. The religious factions that are growing throughout our land are not using their religious clout with wisdom. They are trying to force government leaders into following their position 100 percent. If you disagree with these religious groups on a particular moral issue, they complain, they threaten you with a loss of money or votes or both. I’m frankly sick and tired of the political preachers across this country telling me as a citizen that if I want to be a moral person, I must believe in “A,” “B,” “C,” and “D.” Just who do they think they are? And from where do they presume to claim the right to dictate their moral beliefs to me? And I am even more angry as a legislator who must endure the threats of every religious group who thinks it has some God-granted right to control my vote on every roll call in the Senate. I am warning them today: I will fight them every step of the way if they try to dictate their moral convictions to all Americans in the name of conservatism."

"The Christian Right embraces obedience, inequality, intolerance, and strong intrusive government."

Wikipedia is my friend.

Christian right or religious right is a term used mainly in the United States to label conservative Christian political factions that are characterized by their strong support of socially conservative policies. Christian conservatives principally seek to apply their understanding of the teachings of Christianity to politics and to public policy by proclaiming the value of those teachings or by seeking to use those teachings to influence law and public policy.[1]

In the U.S., the Christian right is an informal coalition formed around a core of evangelical Protestants and Roman Catholics.[2][3][4] The Christian right draws additional support from politically conservative mainline Protestants, Jews, and Mormons.[2][5] The movement has its roots in American politics going back as far as the 1940s and has been especially influential since the 1970s.[6][7] Its influence draws, in part, from grassroots activism as well as from focus on social issues and from the ability to motivate the electorate around those issues.[8] The Christian right is notable today for advancing socially conservative positions on issues including school prayer, intelligent design, embryonic stem cell research,[9] homosexuality,[10] contraception, abortion,[11]and pornography.[12] Although the term "Christian right" is most commonly associated with politics in the United States, similar Christian conservative groups can be found in the political cultures of other Christian-majority nations.

School prayer in public schools violates the Establishment Clause of our Bill of Rights.

Evolution makes Christian retards cry. Teaching childish religious bullshit like "magical intelligent design creationism" in public schools violates the Establishment Clause of our Bill of Rights.

Embryonic stem cell research makes Christian assholes cry so they try to suppress it. Christian scum contribute nothing to human progress. They just get in the way.

Abortion makes Christian crybabies cry. Christian assholes can't mind their own fucking business. They are constantly sticking their nose into other people's private lives. I never met a Christian who wasn't a stupid fucking asshole.

Barry Goldwater was the Republican candidate for President in 1964. He lost the election. The Democrat who won wasted thousands of American lives in Vietnam. Barry Goldwater predicted Christian scum would destroy the Republican Party and he was right.

What I wrote at the Wall Street Journal about Christian scum trying to destroy the Republican Party.

"Only 41% of Americans support cutting off taxpayer money to Planned Parenthood, and 51% oppose it."
I'm not surprised 51% oppose it. Most voters (people who are not Christian extremists) don't care about these things.
This is another example of social conservatives trying to destroy the Republican Party. Everyone's goal should be to prevent another 8 years of government infested with liberals. Let's focus on the economy and foreign policy instead of complaining about things that can only help us lose the 2016 election.
And Mr. Rove is right as usual. Forcing another government shut down is insane.

John Stuart Mill once observed "I never meant to say that the Conservatives are generally stupid. I meant to say that stupid people are generally Conservative."

John Stuart Mill once observed "I never meant to say that the Conservatives are generally stupid. I meant to say that stupid people are generally Conservative."

Absolutely correct. America's idiots, and there's millions of them, belong to the conservative Republican Party. They are science deniers and theocrats. Their stupidity is breathtaking.

But guess what. I belong to the Republican Party. I know the god fantasy is bullshit. I know evolution is an established truth. I most certainly don't want to make America a theocracy. I'm a fiscal conservative. But sometimes the Republican politician is so retarded I have to vote for the liberal which is why I had to vote for Obama in 2008 (but I voted for Romney in 2012).

Christian scum have destroyed the Republican Party and for that they have my complete contempt.

Please see Barry Goldwater, the 1964 Republican candidate for President of the United States, predicted Christian assholes would destroy the Republican Party, and he was right.

Not all American politicians suck up to Christian tards.

Many thanks to Pete Stark, the only normal person (atheist) in the United States Congress.

This blog now has google ads. Please notice that I have no control over what the ads are and I noticed some of ads are disgusting (for example there's an ad for the retarded evolution denier Ron Paul who pretends he can be elected to be America's president).

UPDATE 8/25/2011: I killed the google ads because nobody was interested in them.
