"Darwin was the first to use data from nature to convince people that evolution is true, and his idea of natural selection was truly novel. It testifies to his genius that the concept of natural theology, accepted by most educated Westerners before 1859, was vanquished within only a few years by a single five-hundred-page book. On the Origin of Species turned the mysteries of life's diversity from mythology into genuine science." -- Jerry Coyne

New York Times, Denmark, classical music, and cows.
|
10. And finally, a moo-ving performance. |
This weekend, a group of cellists played two concerts for some music-loving cows and humans in a village south of Copenhagen as part of an effort to bring cultural events to rural areas. |
The idea was born when the founder of Denmark’s Scandinavian Cello School, who had toured Japan as a musician, told a local farmer about how that country’s famously pampered Wagyu cows were raised to produce tender beef. All attendees, human and bovine, appeared to enjoy the events, though the cows seemed to have stronger opinions about classical music. |
“Did you see how they all left at one point,” one cellist said. “They’re not really Dvorak fans.” |
Have a cultured evening. |

I just played chess with someone who lives in Frederiksberg, Denmark. It's a bit different from the northwestern Illinois farm town I live in.
About Frederiksberg
Frederiksberg is sort of a city within a city—though completely surrounded by Copenhagen, it’s technically its own municipality. It’s teeming with gourmet specialty shops, upscale shopping and charming cafés. But it’s also steeped in history and culture. An enormous park features romantic gardens, a Chinese pavilion, Greek-style temple and labyrinth. Take tour of the masterful baroque Frederiksberg Palace and enjoy the delicate exhibits of the Museum of Modern Glass Art.

An interesting fact: Virtually everyone in Finland and Denmark are normal people, aka atheists. Maybe that's why "Finland And Denmark Are Happier Than The U.S."

A comment I wrote and a comment someone else wrote at the New York Times about President Fucktard Trump.
In one single day, Trump proclaimed himself “the Chosen One”, attacked the Prime Minister of Denmark as a nasty woman after she called his effort to purchase Greenland absurd, and declared that Jewish Democrats were disloyal to their “people” and to Israel. Just one of these absurdities uttered by another president would have been considered reason enough for a full-frontal journalistic attack by the media and both parties calling for a thorough mental health assessment. Our future is in the hands of someone who needs to be institutionalized. It’s time to stop pretending this madman is just a little quirky. We are heading for the cliff and no one has their foot on the brakes.

I wrote this:
“China has total respect for Donald Trump and for Donald Trump’s very, very large brain.”
-- Trump
Why does America have an insane president? We can thank Hillary Clinton who could not defeat a celebrity clown in 2016.

Procol Harum - A Whiter Shade of Pale, live in Denmark 2006
Turned cartwheels 'cross the floor
I was feeling kinda seasick
But the crowd called out for more
The room was humming harder
As the ceiling flew away
When we called out for another drink
The waiter brought a tray
As the miller told his tale
That her face, at first just ghostly
Turned a whiter shade of pale
And the truth is plain to see
But I wandered through my playing cards
And would not let her be
One of sixteen vestal virgins
Who were leaving for the coast
And although my eyes were open
They might have just as well've been closed
As the miller told his tale
That her face, at first just ghostly
Turned a whiter shade of pale

A list of the least corrupt countries. I noticed most of these countries are the least religious. I also noticed Idiot America is not on this list.
Thursday, February 28, 2019
Wikipedia: 28% of Danish citizens polled responded that they "believe there is a God". Only 19% of Danes consider religion to be an important part of their life. Only 3% of the population regularly attend Sunday services.
In Idiot America virtually everyone is a god-soaked moron.
Acceptance of evolution. On this chart Denmark is in second place while Idiot America is almost on the bottom.

IN MAGIC MAN WE TRUST
We have a coin called a "dime" that's worth 10 cents. I think it's the smallest coin on this planet. Using a magnifying glass I was able to see "IN GOD WE TRUST".
On the back of a dollar bill:
THE UNITED STATES OF AMERICA
IN GOD WE TRUST
ONE DOLLAR
This is an obvious violation of the Establishment Clause of our Bill of Rights, also known as our wall of separation between church and state. This bullshit exists because our Supreme Court refused to get rid of it.
It gets worse. Here in Idiot Florida where I live the state motto is "In God We Trust".
Also in Idiot Florida all public schools are required to display "In God We Trust" in a conspicuous place. My vocabulary sucks so I frequently have to look things up. Conspicuous: standing out so as to be clearly visible.
This bullshit, beside violating the Establishment Clause, is child abuse. Children see the god bullshit and they think it's normal. It's not normal. It's insanity.
I noticed countries like Norway and Denmark don't have any god bullshit on their currency. They also don't have any religious scum. Virtually everyone is normal, aka atheist.
IN GOD WE TRUST means there is a magical being hiding somewhere in the universe and the thing is honest. We can trust it.
The thing has never given us any evidence it is real. It has never tried to communicate with us. And of course it's not real for the same reason the Easter Bunny is not real. It's fucking impossible.
Somebody might say the in-god-we-trust is not a big fucking deal. But it is a big deal because if we let assholes for Jeebus get away with this bullshit then they will think they can force biology teachers to give magical creationism equal time with evolution in our public schools. That's why there should be zero tolerance for anything that doesn't respect our wall of separation.
