The Scopes Trial was an American legal case in 1925 in which a high school biology teacher John Scopes was accused of violating the state's Butler Act that made it unlawful to teach evolution.

There's been some progress. It's no longer against the law for biology teachers to teach the foundation of biology and the strongest basic fact of science in the United States of Jeebus.

Not that this progress has done any good. Christian assholes always lose in court (most recently in 2005 in Pennsylvania), but there's still a Christian war against science education today. Christian assholes who infest our city, state, and federal governments, and our state boards of education, are constantly trying to dumb down the teaching of science to defend their dead Jeebus. Other Christian assholes harass and threaten biology teachers.
