I learned a few things today about the evolution of skin color in human apes.

This is what I already knew: For human apes who lived in northern climates natural selection selected for light colored skin to help them to absorb more vitamin D from less sunlight.

For people who lived near the equator natural selection selected for darker skin to avoid skin cancer. I think that's correct.

This is what I learned and it makes sense:

Every aspect of the appearance of black people indicates they adapted to a hot climate.

The dark skin doesn't burn as easily.
The big nostrils help them breathe in suffocating temperatures.
The big lips vent heat through the thinner skin.
That nappy hair keeps cool air close to the scalp.

Biologists and other people who know a few things are much less likely to be racists because they know how evolution works.
