There is a religious fantasy called intelligent design. The idea is magic is the best possible solution for all scientific problems. Is magic a scientific theory? No. Is magic a scientific idea? No. Are people who believe in magic incredibly stupid? Yes.
When science deniers go to a university they are likely to fail. The idiot politicians of Texas want to solve this problem. They have invented legislation that would let idiots be idiots and still be able to graduate from a university.
An institution of higher education may not discriminate against or penalize in any manner, especially with regard to employment or academic support, a faculty member or student based on the faculty member’s or student’s conduct of research relating to the theory of intelligent design or other alternate theories of the origination and development of organisms.
Please see Texas Wants to Protect the IDiots in Universities which by the way is a much better blog than this blog.
"Darwin was the first to use data from nature to convince people that evolution is true, and his idea of natural selection was truly novel. It testifies to his genius that the concept of natural theology, accepted by most educated Westerners before 1859, was vanquished within only a few years by a single five-hundred-page book. On the Origin of Species turned the mysteries of life's diversity from mythology into genuine science." -- Jerry Coyne
