I'm a Republican but I'm ashamed of most Republicans. Especially Texas Republicans.
"Controversial Theories – We support objective teaching and equal treatment of all sides of scientific theories. We believe theories such as life origins and environmental change should be taught as challengeable scientific theories subject to change as new data is produced. Teachers and students should be able to discuss the strengths and weaknesses of these theories openly and without fear of retribution or discrimination of any kind."
Their "strengths and weaknesses" are code words Christian assholes use when they really mean "Let's let our incompetent biology teachers spread lies about evolution to accommodate the magic Jeebus man."
Evolution has no weaknesses for the same reason our planet's orbit around the sun has no weaknesses. There is nothing weak about reality. There is nothing controversial about the basic facts of evolution, also known as the foundation of biology.
There are incompetent biology teachers in every state of Idiot America but I would bet virtually all biology teachers in Texas are Christian scum who need to be fired. That will never happen because incompetence is exactly what (most) Texans want.
There's other stuff in the Texas Republican Party Platform that is a bit extreme or ridiculous, but I'm mostly interested in their war against science education.
