Right-wingers who don't believe in evolution: will you allow me to educate you?
The process by which new species arise is called 'speciation'.
This is related to natural selection, which is what drives evolution (slow change) in the first place. This is a requirement for speciation ... but you are not just asking about how evolution occurs, but how new species arise. So to keep this from getting really long, I'll assume you already know how natural selection works, and I'll just describe the speciation part:
In general, speciation happens because two or more populations of the same species, get isolated from each other. In other words, the two populations are not interbreeding -- they are not exchanging genes. When that happens for a long enough time, the two populations can lose the *ability* to interbreed with each other, even if they come back in contact with each other. What was once one species, is now two (or more) species.
The most common reason for populations to get isolated from each other is some geographical barrier. This could be a river cutting through a valley, a lake getting split into two lakes (which separates the fish species in the lakes), or a bad winter or drought causing migration to separate regions, or a valley drying up between mountain ranges (which isolates the different species on the separate mountain ranges
There are other things, besides geographical barriers, that can cause speciation. But you should learn about that case first. It is called 'allopatric speciation' (where'allopatric' means 'different country')

"Right-wingers who don't believe in evolution: will you allow me to educate you?"
Well done. Most of these anti-science morons don't know anything about the science that makes them cry.
It's true that "right-wingers", also known as Republicans in Idiot America, are usually science deniers, but of course evolution is not a political idea. Evolution is a scientific idea, and evolution is the strongest fact of science.
By the way, as you know, speciation explains why human apes developed differently than chimpanzee apes. Our common ancestors became separated and evolved differently.
"Darwin was the first to use data from nature to convince people that evolution is true, and his idea of natural selection was truly novel. It testifies to his genius that the concept of natural theology, accepted by most educated Westerners before 1859, was vanquished within only a few years by a single five-hundred-page book. On the Origin of Species turned the mysteries of life's diversity from mythology into genuine science." -- Jerry Coyne
