"Darwin was the first to use data from nature to convince people that evolution is true, and his idea of natural selection was truly novel. It testifies to his genius that the concept of natural theology, accepted by most educated Westerners before 1859, was vanquished within only a few years by a single five-hundred-page book. On the Origin of Species turned the mysteries of life's diversity from mythology into genuine science." -- Jerry Coyne

I saw hundreds of pelicans in Mexico. This pelican lives near Cabo San Lucas, Baja California Sur, Mexico. I've been there. It's beautiful.
I swam to this thing. Not easy to do. Huge waves coming from two directions. On the other side of the hole there was a small patch of land for me to rest before swimming back. That land is not there anymore because of global warming.
I found a beach in Cabo San Lucas with huge waves. I walked into those waves. I was picked up and thrown down hard. It was wonderful but I didn't do that again.
I found another beach in Cabo San Lucas where it was easy to swim but the water was very deep. It was so clean I could look down and see how deep it was. So deep I could not see the bottom. That scared me so I got out of there.
