"Darwin was the first to use data from nature to convince people that evolution is true, and his idea of natural selection was truly novel. It testifies to his genius that the concept of natural theology, accepted by most educated Westerners before 1859, was vanquished within only a few years by a single five-hundred-page book. On the Origin of Species turned the mysteries of life's diversity from mythology into genuine science." -- Jerry Coyne

This is one of my favorite creatures. It's one of the Great Ape species. They are called human apes.
These apes are found on every continent. Some of these apes are doing everything they can to completely wipe out other species. They are destroying this planet and the problem is getting worse.
The human apes have an interesting history. They share an ancestor with chimpanzee apes. Chimpanzees evolved to live in trees while humans evolved to live in condominiums and houses. The chimps are stronger but the humans have a larger brain which they often don't use.
One reason the human apes have a larger brain is their ancestors learned how to cook other animals and this made larger brains possible. This is all explained in Wikipedia.
The human apes have accomplished some amazing things like space travel. They walked on the moon and sent other spaceships to explore every planet in this solar system.
The human apes are the only species that figured out who they are, where they came from, and how they developed. They discovered something called evolution by natural selection and genetic drift.
It's interesting this species also invented imaginary beings and most of these apes actually believe in these things. They call these creatures God & Allah & Zeus which have magical powers. So there's two different kinds of humans. A small minority who use their brain and a much larger population who never use their brain.
There is much more information about this strange species at https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Human which I recommend if you have several days to read the whole thing.
