Positing a designer to explain the universe explains nothing because it leaves unexplained who designed the designer? But, we are told to accept that on faith. Bull. Why not accept the universe as it is and cut out the middleman? But, that would eliminate religion, a very lucrative racket and even tax exempt here.
DNA reveals that life itself is chemistry, not some mysterious essence. Ultimately science will also reveal the intricacies of consciousness which like life itself is ubiquitous in the universe.
What fanciful speculations will erupt like hemorrhoids from philosophers and religionists about dark energy and dark matter, names for two of the latest issues in physics?
"Darwin was the first to use data from nature to convince people that evolution is true, and his idea of natural selection was truly novel. It testifies to his genius that the concept of natural theology, accepted by most educated Westerners before 1859, was vanquished within only a few years by a single five-hundred-page book. On the Origin of Species turned the mysteries of life's diversity from mythology into genuine science." -- Jerry Coyne
