Looking east this morning before sunrise I saw a very bright Venus and also looking east I saw a very bright moon (Waning Crescent 19% of Full). Still looking east I saw a spectacular Florida sunrise, a beautiful painted sky, the sun lighting up the huge clouds on the horizon.
The universe is constantly trying to kill us. There is the occasional huge asteroid that wipes out entire species, the hurricanes, earthquakes, tsunamis, tornadoes, floods, out of control forest fires, insects destroying crops, and probably a few other things I forgot about.
Today the universe was being nice, at least here in south Florida. Meanwhile Hurricane Ophelia will soon be killing one of my favorite countries, the United Kingdom. Lots of luck British friends.
An interesting thing about the universe, it doesn't think. It's just natural processes doing their thing. And those natural processes don't care if the human apes go extinct on this insignificant planet in a vast universe.
"The total amount of suffering per year in the natural world is beyond all decent contemplation. During the minute that it takes me to compose this sentence, thousands of animals are being eaten alive, many others are running for their lives, whimpering with fear, others are slowly being devoured from within by rasping parasites, thousands of all kinds are dying of starvation, thirst, and disease. It must be so. If there ever is a time of plenty, this very fact will automatically lead to an increase in the population until the natural state of starvation and misery is restored. In a universe of electrons and selfish genes, blind physical forces and genetic replication, some people are going to get hurt, other people are going to get lucky, and you won't find any rhyme or reason in it, nor any justice. The universe that we observe has precisely the properties we should expect if there is, at bottom, no design, no purpose, no evil, no good, nothing but pitiless indifference."
-- Richard Dawkins
I have lots of favorite quotes including brilliant stuff from Mr. Dawkins. I recommend reading those quotes at Richard Dawkins which has 58 posts. I also recommend his book about the evidence for evolution, "The Greatest Show On Earth, The Evidence For Evolution".
I have one complaint about Mr. Dawkins. He said something which I thought was ridiculous. He said he was “6.9 out of seven” sure the magic god fairy is not real.
He probably wouldn't say the same thing about the Easter Bunny therefore he thinks a magic fairy is more likely to be real than a magic rabbit.
What the fuck??? Make a decision Mr. Dawkins. Is supernatural magic real or not? This is not rocket science. Any unbrainwashed child could figure it out.
Way to go Mr. Dawkins. You are now part of the religious stupidity problem and the religious violence problem. Now the Muslim terrorists can say "We're not crazy when we blow ourselves up to murder women and children because the most famous fake atheist in the world says we might be right about Allah being real."
Magic is not real therefore magic god fairies are impossible. Period. There is nothing more to say about it.
I am 100% certain magic is not real. It's not difficult to figure this out. This is called REALITY.
An interesting thing about reality: It's not going anywhere. No matter how much crybabies cry about it, no matter how much cowards try to throw it out, reality doesn't care.
