Kewanee Mayor Gary Moore made it very clear in an interview on our People to People program on Friday on WKEI that he is opposed to the legalization of Marijuana but that proverbial ship has sailed in the state of Illinois...
One week ago, Justin Raver, the Kewanee City Attorney, laid out the law regarding legal marijuana in the state of Illinois. The presentation did not change Mayor Gary Moore's mind regarding the legalization of Marijuana but because of the law, and the will of the people of Kewanee who have spoken in favor of a marijuana dispensary when speaking to the Mayor, he tells WKEI that would likely support having a dispensary in Kewanee...
How much tax revenue can the City of Kewanee expect from having a dispensary in town? Mayor Moore doesn't want anyone to get their hopes up regarding a windfall but it will mean some revenue for the City of Kewanee...
So what is next for the discussion of allowing a dispensary? Mayor Moore hopes to have more forums like the one held at Petersen Auditorium last Monday in order to continue the dialog...

People to People Scott Packee on a Business Approach to Recreational Marijuana
Business owner Scott Packee joined WKEI on People to People to discuss the business side of the recreational marijuana debate. Scott and partner Anthony Segura are looking to bring a marijuana dispensary to Kewanee in the next year and we talked about how that may come about.
