Many years ago before the internet was invented I never imagined my living room could be an international chess club. I thought I would have to get in my car and drive to a chess club every time I wanted to play the game.
Just now from my living room, I played games against Milano, Italy and Buenos Aires, Argentina.
I used to have to punch a chess clock after every move. These days the computer does that for me. If I wanted to try to force a draw by repeating the same position 3 times, I used to have to remember the positions and then claim a draw, but the computer automatically claims the draw for me because that's the preference I have set it to.
If I wanted to buy something I would have to waste my time going to a store and not be able to find what I needed. These days I can buy anything I want with a few mouse clicks at Amazon.com. I don't own a car because I don't need one, thanks to Amazon.
My most favorite websites:
https://lichess.org/ Where I play chess for free and where I use the free computer analysis to find out why I was killed.
https://www.amazon.com/ Where I buy stuff.
https://www.google.com/ Looking things up. I often use it to find what I want at Amazon.
"Google Search by voice" I use this to find stuff by asking for it instead of typing it. It's very useful when I forget how to spell a word or when I forget what the word is.
https://client.schwab.com/Login/SignOn/CustomerCenterLogin.aspx? Where I buy shares of AT&T for the wonderful dividend income.
https://www.wikipedia.org/ The best encyclopedia in the world and it's free.
https://docs.google.com/spreadsheets/u/0/ I have a Google spreadsheet for my checking account which I have been using for 11 years. It's a beautiful thing.
I have a private google blog where I keep tons of information I need.
http://darwinkilledgod.blogspot.com/ My totally free google blog where I waste lots of time writing stuff nobody reads.
"Darwin was the first to use data from nature to convince people that evolution is true, and his idea of natural selection was truly novel. It testifies to his genius that the concept of natural theology, accepted by most educated Westerners before 1859, was vanquished within only a few years by a single five-hundred-page book. On the Origin of Species turned the mysteries of life's diversity from mythology into genuine science." -- Jerry Coyne

I used to live in the Dark Ages when there was no internet. I love the 21st century.
