"Who can share an incident in their lives, or a testimony if you will, of something that has increased your faith in God?"
I would like to share the many things that eventually made me realize a supernatural god is impossible, not to mention ridiculous.
I was a brainwashed Catholic. In high school I explained to my friends some of the Catholic fantasies. They laughed at me.
A few months later I told my girlfriend we could do something on Sunday but first I have to go to church. She asked me "Why do you go to church". Her question shocked me so much I was speechless. I couldn't say anything so she changed the subject.
Then while still in high school, the Pastor's entire sermon, two Sundays in a row, was about just one thing: Why we should donate more money for the wealthy Vatican. It was then that I realized the Catholic Church is not a religion. It's a business and the customers are suckers. I never went to church again.
I was still not sure about the existence of a god, thanks to intense brainwashing from 1st grade to 8th grade. I just stopped thinking about it. Later I decided the god thing can't be real. Then much later, after studying evolution, my atheism became stronger than ever.
"Darwin was the first to use data from nature to convince people that evolution is true, and his idea of natural selection was truly novel. It testifies to his genius that the concept of natural theology, accepted by most educated Westerners before 1859, was vanquished within only a few years by a single five-hundred-page book. On the Origin of Species turned the mysteries of life's diversity from mythology into genuine science." -- Jerry Coyne

At another website I explained how I went from brainwashed Catholic to hardcore atheist.
