Why do billions of people think a god is real even though this the 21st century?
This was the best answer:
Humans are social creatures. We feel better when we are part of a group with a common goal. Religion evolved because we started asking questions about natural phenomenon such as rain, thunder and the sun. We invented God(s) to stand in for these things because we didn't know any better. Now that we have science, God belief is obsolete.
Plus the average IQ is 85 and 95% of people have an IQ of below 120 which is "average". In other words, people are stupid. Especially in the United States.
-- Riley
"Darwin was the first to use data from nature to convince people that evolution is true, and his idea of natural selection was truly novel. It testifies to his genius that the concept of natural theology, accepted by most educated Westerners before 1859, was vanquished within only a few years by a single five-hundred-page book. On the Origin of Species turned the mysteries of life's diversity from mythology into genuine science." -- Jerry Coyne
