An interesting difference between god-soaked morons and scientists: Scientists are curious about things. Their curiosity makes scientific progress possible.

Religious brainwashing sucks out all the curiosity everyone is born with. The bible thumpers are not curious about anything. Instead of wondering how something happens, they just say god-did-it.

This would explain their refusal to learn anything about the science that makes them cry, evolution.
