My Amazon customer review of "The Shadow President, The Truth of Mike Pence":
I haven't finished reading this book but I can't wait any longer to write about it.
"The Shadow President" is excellent, well written, and very interesting.
I've often wondered why there are so many science deniers in the Trump administration. Why did the Republican Party become the Anti-science Party? "The Shadow President" answered my question. The science deniers were chosen by Mike Pence. President Trump let Pence make these decisions.
When Pence was a congressman he gave a speech about his love for magical creationism and he showed off his total ignorance of evolution. So of course when he had the opportunity to help select members of Trump's cabinet he chose other know-nothing science deniers.
Until recently I was a Republican. Thanks to Trump and Pence I am now a conservative Democrat. The Republican Party has become a religious extremist organization. It's unfortunate but it's too late to fix the problem. And if Pence gets the President job the problem will be much worse.
Michael D'Antonio and Peter Eisner, well done! You guys did a lot of research and created a must-read book.
"Darwin was the first to use data from nature to convince people that evolution is true, and his idea of natural selection was truly novel. It testifies to his genius that the concept of natural theology, accepted by most educated Westerners before 1859, was vanquished within only a few years by a single five-hundred-page book. On the Origin of Species turned the mysteries of life's diversity from mythology into genuine science." -- Jerry Coyne
