MECCA, Saudi Arabia—The toll from a mass stampede during the hajj pilgrimage in the holy city of Mecca has increased to 769, Saudi Arabia’s Health Ministry said Saturday, as the annual Muslim ritual concluded.
Thursday’s incident occurred in the tent city of Mina, on Mecca’s outskirts, and left an additional 934 injured.
It was the deadliest tragedy at the hajj in 25 years and the second major disaster of this pilgrimage season. Earlier this month, a crane collapse at Mecca’s Grand Mosque, the holiest site in Islam, killed at least 109 people.
Muslim scum are required to visit Mecca at least once in their life to worship a building. |
