Dinosaurs went extinct about 66 million years ago when a huge asteroid crashed into Earth making it possible for mammals to evolve into several species, including human apes.
However one branch of dinosaurs, the small dinosaurs who are the ancestors of the birds who live today, survived. Thank goodness that happened because l love to eat chickens, especially the thighs.
My mother was born and raised on a South Dakota farm. In the 1920's when she was girl she was occasionally required to kill a chicken for dinner. She would carry an axe, chase and capture a chicken, then cut off its head. Not many little girls get to do that today.
By the way my father was raised on a Minnesota farm, a not very successful farm and they were very poor. When my father was a little boy in the 1920's his job was to go fishing at a lake on their property so the family could eat dinner.
