A college student wrote an article about "Inherit the Wind" which is a 1960 movie about a teacher on trial in 1925 for violating the Butler Act, a Tennensee state law prohibiting public school teachers from teaching evolution instead of creationism.

The student's article was well done. I recommend click the link: COLUMN: 'Inherit the Wind' dramatizes battle between evolution and creationism

I wrote a comment. Here it is:

Well done Mr. Mack.

Some nitpicking: "humans evolved from a lower order of creatures"

That implies humans are the pinnacle of evolution. There is no pinnacle. We are not the pinnacle of anything. Other creatures including our ancient ape ancestors are not a "lower order". They evolved just as much as we have. They just filled a different niche.

"At its core was the turbulent clash of ideas: Mysticism versus reason, religion versus science, the Enlightenment versus the Dark Ages."

I prefer reason and science. Unfortunately millions of Americans prefer the Dark Ages.
