Charles Darwin, 1859, On the Origin of Species: "Light will be thrown on the origin of man and his history."
Charles Darwin, 1871, The Descent of Man: "We thus learn that man is descended from a hairy quadruped, furnished with a tail and pointed ears, probably arboreal in its habits, and an inhabitant of the Old World."
"Darwin was the first to use data from nature to convince people that evolution is true, and his idea of natural selection was truly novel. It testifies to his genius that the concept of natural theology, accepted by most educated Westerners before 1859, was vanquished within only a few years by a single five-hundred-page book. On the Origin of Species turned the mysteries of life's diversity from mythology into genuine science." -- Jerry Coyne

In 1859 Charles Darwin knew human apes evolved from ancient apes, but he didn't think the world was ready for this obvious fact. So he waited until 1871. Now here we are in 2019 and we still have uneducated morons who think people are completely separate from nature.
