Creationists are annoyed? Good. They have it coming. These guys have wasted taxpayer money far too often through the necessity of annoying lawsuits to remove their agenda from local schools which VIOLATE THE CONSTITUTION and all sense of sane science education. Creationists owe the public money!
There is nothing to respect with Creationism as a POV. It is dishonest at its core. It posits the idea that a literal, nonsensical interpretation of Genesis can be proven to be correct based on observation and objective study. The problem is that they don't actually hold their beliefs based on observation and objective study. If so, then contrary evidence would shake such belief. That is never the case. Their belief is in defiance of such things. Creationists will contort, distort and lie like cheap rugs in any way to avoid accepting anything which contradicts their view.
Its sole purpose is to browbeat people into acceptance of a Fundamentalist Protestant religious view. Intellectual honesty is not required. Any argument which furthers such ends will be employed.
Bill Nye in his effort to be polite and charitable to Creationists noted that their world is insanely complicated. Of course he is using the premise that Creationists actually hold to the various inconsistent and sometimes contradictory arguments used as actual honest belief. Things get complicated because one forgets which lies they were telling to further their arguments. He didn't go as far as accusing them of dishonesty but he hinted at it quite a bit.
"Darwin was the first to use data from nature to convince people that evolution is true, and his idea of natural selection was truly novel. It testifies to his genius that the concept of natural theology, accepted by most educated Westerners before 1859, was vanquished within only a few years by a single five-hundred-page book. On the Origin of Species turned the mysteries of life's diversity from mythology into genuine science." -- Jerry Coyne
