The Metropolitan Opera announced that the pandemic had forced it to cancel its entire 2020-21 season. The outbreak has kept the 3,800-seat opera house closed since mid-March, sapping it of more than $150 million in revenue and leaving roughly 1,000 full-time employees, including its world-class orchestra and chorus, furloughed without pay since April. |
