Two people answered a question I asked.

Is there anyone here who used to be a know-nothing creationist but then after looking things up accepted our evolutionary relationship with chimpanzees apes?

Oh yes. I was that know-nothing creationist just 5 years ago. I was so effing stupid that I even used to regurgitate the old robotic comeback, "If we evolved from monkeys then why do monkeys still exist?"

Oh the horror and shame.

I got better! Now I accept the common ancestor theory, without even regurgitating "It's only a theory!"

Yep, I spent several years objectively investigating creationism and evolution. I came to the conclusion that creationist books, videos, and other media are a major con, and most of the authors really do not know anything about science.

The hard part about this process was being objective as when I first started the process, my gut reaction was disregard everything about evolution and then later I had to stop myself from dismissing any creationist claim, but in both cases I learned to do objective fact checking.

I don't know that I go as far to say that sharing a common ancestor with chimps, as well as other primates, is one of the strongest facts in science, but it is a fact.

Mr. Pirate: As you know we share an ancestor with chimps. And it really is the strongest fact of science. There are thousands of evidences for it thanks to DNA sequencing.
