Laura upgraded to Category 4 as Hurricane Center warns of 'unsurvivable' storm surge

Hurricane Laura has continued to rapidly intensify, reaching Category 4 on the Saffir-Simpson wind scale, with peak winds of 140 mph.
The storm is predicted to make landfall late Wednesday or early Thursday near the Texas-Louisiana border. The National Hurricane Center has warned of an "unsurvivable" 15-to-20-foot storm surge above normally dry land just to the east of where it comes ashore.
