The senator from California and former state attorney general, who also made a run at the Democratic presidential nomination last year, will join the former vice president on the ticket. It’s only the fourth time a woman has been on a major-party presidential ticket, and Harris, who is the daughter of Indian and Jamaican immigrants, is the first Black and Asian American woman chosen.
