The Camp Fire is the most destructive wildfire in California history.[3] Named after Camp Creek Road, its place of origin,[4] the fire started on November 8, 2018, in Butte County, in Northern California. The fire burned more than 100,000 acres (400 km2), destroyed at least 6,713 structures, killed nine civilians, and injured three firefighters, with most of the destruction occurring within the first two days of the fire.[2] The fire forced the evacuation of Paradise, California, and other communities, and destroyed or heavily damaged homes, businesses, a church, a hospital, a school, and a rest home.[5][6] The fire occurred at the same time as the Woolsey Fire and the Hill Fire.
