The universe has countless trillions of solar systems. Since it was easy for life to get a foothold on Earth there should be millions of other planets with living creatures. A smaller number of planets would have some creatures with large brains like the dolphins and the human apes on this planet.
Because of the vast distances between solar systems, it's unlikely we will ever be able to prove there is life elsewhere, but I'm betting what I wrote is correct.

From Carl Sagan...
Today, at this brief moment in time, we have evolved to know that we are just another life form amid multi-millions of life forms taking up minimal space on a tiny rock orbiting around just one of the multi-billion balls of burning gases floating in a cosmos of immeasurable size.
“The universe is a pretty big place. If it's just us, seems like an awful waste of space.”
---Carl Sagan from his fictional “ Contact”.
"Darwin was the first to use data from nature to convince people that evolution is true, and his idea of natural selection was truly novel. It testifies to his genius that the concept of natural theology, accepted by most educated Westerners before 1859, was vanquished within only a few years by a single five-hundred-page book. On the Origin of Species turned the mysteries of life's diversity from mythology into genuine science." -- Jerry Coyne
