New York Times - A defiant President Trump declared on Thursday that he has all but given up on negotiating with Congress over his border wall and will build it on his own even as he dismissed any suggestions of wrongdoing in the investigations that have ensnared his associates.

"He made no mention of closing the government again, a move that backfired on him."

This is a good thing. He's going to waste money on a ridiculous wall but at least he won't close the government again, which would be a much worse disaster.

Trump will be thrown out soon enough and this nightmare will be over with.
