"Why don't Christians believe in evolution?"
Some nitpicking: Scientific facts are not beliefs. It would be better to ask "Why don't Christians accept the overwhelming evidence for evolution?"
In Idiot America where I live about 50% of Christians want to throw out all of evolution and replace this basic fact of science with god-did-it.
The other 50% of Christians don't want to admit evolution is a completely natural process, no gods required. Instead, they say their dead Jeebus is a mechanism of evolution, and that's childish nonsense. These Christians are desperately trying to find something for their god fairy to do. They don't want to admit their god of the gaps has run out of hiding places.
"Darwin was the first to use data from nature to convince people that evolution is true, and his idea of natural selection was truly novel. It testifies to his genius that the concept of natural theology, accepted by most educated Westerners before 1859, was vanquished within only a few years by a single five-hundred-page book. On the Origin of Species turned the mysteries of life's diversity from mythology into genuine science." -- Jerry Coyne
