"Darwin was the first to use data from nature to convince people that evolution is true, and his idea of natural selection was truly novel. It testifies to his genius that the concept of natural theology, accepted by most educated Westerners before 1859, was vanquished within only a few years by a single five-hundred-page book. On the Origin of Species turned the mysteries of life's diversity from mythology into genuine science." -- Jerry Coyne

Is John Kasich, Republican candidate for President in 2016, a science denier? I asked him at his website.
In the 21st century we need a pro-science president. During your 2010 run for Ohio governor you said both evolution and creation science should be taught in classrooms. My question is do you still think time should be wasted in science classrooms talking about religious ideas like creationism? Also, do you seriously think a competent biology teacher would agree to teach a magical fantasy in his or her biology classroom?
I am betting my question eventually gets asked in one of the debates.
I am by the way a fiscal conservative and you are on a short list of candidates I would vote for. I like your ideas about the economy and foreign policy. But if the Republican candidate is a science denier, I would have to vote for the Democrat and I hope I don't have to do that.

On 9/19/2015 at the Wall Street Journal I explained why Mr. Kasich should be the next American president.
Biden will win the nomination. We need a candidate who can defeat him.
Mr. Kasich (the only candidate who actually looks like a president) has ideas both social conservatives and fiscal conservatives will like. He is intelligent and has common sense, he can win the independent voters, and we have to win Ohio.
I suggest before you throw him out the window, check his ISSUES website at https://johnkasich.com/issues/
The world is a hopeless mess. We have to nominate someone who has a brain. That's why I think Mr. Kasich is the only possible correct choice.
