John Ranta
Such a long, and deeply flawed argument. “Denying the existence of God is as much a leap of faith as asserting it.” The author hopes we buy this claim, but it’s silly and wrong. Just replace “god” with “unicorns” and its flaw becomes clear. The problems with faith are two. One is that all claims to any sort of faith are equally valid. God and the resurrection? No more or less valid than crystals and chakras. Or voodoo, or leprechauns. The second problem is that faith can’t be shared, it’s divisive. Science is based on reproducibility and common understanding. Faith is based on personal belief and experience. As a result, people of faith will go to war to defend their beliefs against the infidels. And everyone who doesn’t buy your version of faith is a threat, an infidel.
