How can there still be evolution deniers in the 21st century?

Child brainwashing. I help kids after school, and this one girl, literally today, told me the history of the world.
'God made Adam and Eve in Israel, and humanity came from Israel, and then Mary and Joseph had a baby, and the baby was Jesus, and'
You can all probably guess how that went on. But yea. If Christians weren't cowards or awful parents, they wouldn't have to brainwash their offspring into following their cult. The irony is that it's appealing enough in general to probably convince them if they were actually given a choice of what to believe. But no, the cult has to constantly indoctrinate smart but gullible minds just to keep this bullshit going.
It really grinds my last nerve when basic human history is ignored in favor of a fucking fairytale.

"Darwin was the first to use data from nature to convince people that evolution is true, and his idea of natural selection was truly novel. It testifies to his genius that the concept of natural theology, accepted by most educated Westerners before 1859, was vanquished within only a few years by a single five-hundred-page book. On the Origin of Species turned the mysteries of life's diversity from mythology into genuine science." -- Jerry Coyne
