Christians: I am wondering how evolution fits in with the Bible? Does it or do we ignore evolution?
••••••••••••••••••••••••••••••••••••••••••••
The people who wrote the bible didn't know anything about science.
If Christians ignore evolution then they are ignoring reality.
The religious implications are obvious. Humans are apes and we share an ancestor with the other ape species. And God had absolutely nothing to do with it.
And if the god fairy was not required to explain the diversity of life, then there is no reason to pretend the fairy was required for anything else. A god fairy who never had anything to do is a fairy that doesn't exist.
"Darwin was the first to use data from nature to convince people that evolution is true, and his idea of natural selection was truly novel. It testifies to his genius that the concept of natural theology, accepted by most educated Westerners before 1859, was vanquished within only a few years by a single five-hundred-page book. On the Origin of Species turned the mysteries of life's diversity from mythology into genuine science." -- Jerry Coyne
