Volcano on St. Vincent erupts, spewing two-mile-high cloud of ash just hours after evacuations were ordered

The 4,049-foot La Soufrière volcano erupted on St. Vincent early Friday, sending ash billowing above the tropical Caribbean island just hours after surrounding communities were ordered to evacuate. Images on social media captured a thick column rising from the active volcano. No deaths have been reported, but one expert said the eruption could "go on for days, weeks, or even months.”
