"When you choose to believe that imaginary creatures are real, and that great information is available from a nonsense-filled, bronze-age cult book that approves of slavery and beating slaves, you've already made the decision to kill your own intellect. Not much can be expected from idiots like that."
-- Jeff
It's not baffling. Have you been around the last twenty or thirty years? There's been a cynical push to erase and erode trust in education, learning, science, progress, etc, etc. People choosing easy to digest magical solutions over complex scientific whatever...come on. The fake news crowd isn't limited to some stereotypical hillbillies picking their underwear out of their butt cracks. The internet hasn't helped, either. Plus, nobody wants to cross-check, investigate sources, chase down this or that. And you also have to take in political bias, that's for everyone. Oh politics are not part of my religious anything, some might bleat as they earnestly explain why the earth is flat and why evolution is a lie told by feminists to get rid of men.
People like easy answers. They like black or white choices. They like option a or option b. Either/or! Ever been around people?? Yeah.

"Darwin was the first to use data from nature to convince people that evolution is true, and his idea of natural selection was truly novel. It testifies to his genius that the concept of natural theology, accepted by most educated Westerners before 1859, was vanquished within only a few years by a single five-hundred-page book. On the Origin of Species turned the mysteries of life's diversity from mythology into genuine science." -- Jerry Coyne
