"I would appreciate sensible answers."
You expect sensible answers from science deniers?
"Christians and muslims, why do you oppose evolution?"
They don't like the religious implications, and it doesn't help they know nothing about the science they don't like.
Perhaps evolution seems impossible for people who know nothing about it. For example we share an ancestor with cockroaches. To understand how this is possible these people have to understand the basics like the age of the earth and the millions of years required for new species to develop.
They have to understand natural selection, an easy concept to understand, but they don't get it. They think it's all random, everything is by chance, instead of the natural selection of what works.
Their chances of learning these things are zero because their religious indoctrination has sucked out all their curiosity. So they have no desire to learn anything. Instead they go out of their way to know nothing.
There is no hope for these people. Their wasted lives will be spent never knowing what they are and where they came from.

"Darwin was the first to use data from nature to convince people that evolution is true, and his idea of natural selection was truly novel. It testifies to his genius that the concept of natural theology, accepted by most educated Westerners before 1859, was vanquished within only a few years by a single five-hundred-page book. On the Origin of Species turned the mysteries of life's diversity from mythology into genuine science." -- Jerry Coyne
