That's the thing about being indoctrinated into a wishful-thinking-based world-view. Realizing that it's a fantasy kind of destroys that world-view and that's not permissible. So unless the person is particularly strong-minded or particularly astute and a critical thinker, it's unlikely that they're going to accept that their fantasy is a fantasy.
