Atheists, how would you convince a Christian to throw out the ridiculous heaven fantasy and accept reality?

Atheists, how would you convince a Christian to throw out the ridiculous heaven fantasy and accept reality?

I wrote the question. This would be my answer.

Christian, did you ever step on a cockroach? When the cockroach died do you think it went to cockroach heaven? Your answer is probably No. Why do you think a dead human ape is better than a dead cockroach? They're both worm food. There is no reason to pretend the dead human ape magically flies to a magical paradise if a dead cockroach can't do the same thing.

The rest of this is other answers to my question.

Easy..... invite them to eat a bullet. End their pathetic, suffering on this mortal plane of existence so they can eagerly walk through those pearly gates to meet their maker.

Nobody would call me persuasive or a salesman in the first place.

On sites like this it is a waste of time, because the vast majority of "Christians" on here are dogmatists who aren't interested in discussing the flaws in their beliefs and their book of myths (quotes based upon the fact that my late mother, a committed, if very compassionate Christian herself, would regard a good number of them as not true Christians, based upon their stated opinions!)

In Europe though we get a lot of "Christmas and Easter Christians" - people who are traditionally Christians but only turn up to church twice a year. They are more open to discussion.

There is also a disconnect in some European countries where, according to opinion surveys, more than half the population is allegedly "Christian", but considerably less than half believe that Heaven and Hell exist.

I can't and don't really want to as long as they keep to themselves.

Most Christians follow a version of the King James Bible which was completed in 1611 by 8 members of the Church of England.

There were no original texts (and still aren't) to translate. The oldest manuscripts were written down hundreds of years after the events they purport to document, there are over 8,000 of these and no two are alike.

The King James translators however used none of these, instead they edited translations from a century before to create a version the King and Parliament would approve.

So modern day Christians believe the 'word of god' is a book edited in the 17th century from 16th century translations of 8,000 contradictory copies of 4th century scrolls that claim to be copies of lost letters written in the 1st century.

All that is historically accurate and provable - I'll take that as reality.

I'm not here to proselytize. They can do what they want.

••••••••••••••••••••••••••••••••••••••

Many people need to believe. Tradition and ritual are socially bonding.

As an atheist from age 10, I learned to keep my mouth shut rather than offend a believer. They have an alternate "reality".

I'm going on 80 years old and still need to hide my atheism in the closet...

I do not wear my "I'm an atheist" tee shirt or baseball cap in public.

••••••••••••••••••••••••••••••••••••••

Leave them alone and let them find out themselves.

••••••••••••••••••••••••••••••••••••••

You can't because you can't fix stupidity - it's an incurable illness. There is plenty of evidence that supports no God exists and NOTHING to support he does but they refuse to see that. I'm still waiting for a Harry Potter religion to start since they believe everything they read in books.

••••••••••••••••••••••••••••••••••••••

You can't. Once someone has chosen to have "faith" instead of reason and accountability, convincing them they are wrong is a futile task. How can you convince someone with evidence if they do not value evidence? I am of the impression atheism is come only by education and study. No one "decides" to be an atheist. It rather is a natural occurrence if one decides to think rather than blindly follow traditions. God was created to placate those afraid of mortality. Unless the God believers want to value evidence, nothing will change their feeble minds.
