I found this comment at the New York Times. It's about what the China dictatorship is doing to Hong Kong.

The Chinese Communist Party has studied the down fall of the Soviet Union and is convinced of one thing: the communist party must maintain a monopoly on China if it wants to survive. The encroachment on democratic rights in Hong Kong will continue and only accelerate in the near future. The people of Hong Kong have already said loud and clear they will not stand for it. China faces a number of problems: growing inequality, corruption, South China Sea dominance, etc. But the biggest threat to a stable China and to the Communist Party is that little city-state to the South. If you were to tell me that by 2040 China is no longer a communist country and ask me to predict why I will tell you it probably all started in Hong Kong.
