Five years ago, "intelligent design" ruling in Dover case set a legal landmark

I left the following comment at this news website.

It's interesting that the creationists who tried to force the beliefs of their Christian death cult into science education not only lost in court, not only wasted one million dollars of taxpayer money, but every single biology teacher in Dover refused to cooperate. They refused to talk about magical intelligent design creationism in their science classrooms. Creationists should have learned a lesson from all this. They should have learned how to shut up because their opinions don't matter. Their opinions don't matter because they're uneducated morons.

MIT Researchers Reconstruct Evolution of 3 Billion-Year-Old Microbes

MIT's mathematical model combines modern genomes and information on how genes evolve to pinpoint key changes in time and create a fossil record prior to the Cambrian Explosion

Darwin killed the magic god fairy, but apparently not everyone got the memo.

On another blog a Christian wrote "Accepting evolution as plausible, brought me closer to God."

This was my reply:

The facts of evolutionary biology (and every other branch of science) have left your magic god fairy with nothing to do. Worthless gods are gods who don't exist.

Welcome to the 21st century. Don't be afraid. It's much more interesting than the Dark Ages where Christians still live, and the 21st century won't bite you.

••••••••••••••••••••••••••••••••••••••••••

Richard Dawkins explained the same concept in the Wall Street Journal, which I copied and pasted to this post:

On another blog, a pro-science Christian asked his dumb Christian friends why they don't study evolution instead of complaining about it.

The men of her city must stone her to death because she has committed such a godless act in Israel.

This quote is not from the Qu'ran. This atrocity is the word of god according to the Christian bible (as if a god was real and it was a thug).

What's the difference between Muslim terrorists and Christian assholes?

There's no difference at all. They both believe in a disgusting ancient book full of violence and stupidity.

From Deuteronomy 22:

But if the charge is true, and no evidence that the girl was a virgin can be found, they must take the girl to the entrance of her father's house. The men of her city must stone her to death because she has committed such a godless act in Israel: She had sex before marriage, while she was still living in her father's house. You must get rid of this evil.

Here is a list of my ten best posts. They are my best posts because I didn't write them, they are mostly copy and paste jobs. They are must-read posts for everyone. If you are a new visitor and your time is limited, please at least read these ten posts.

Evolution deniers are equal to holocaust deniers. Equally stupid and equally insane.

If you disagree with the following scientific fact, you're an evolution denier.

"Modern human apes developed over millions of years from the same ancient ape species modern chimpanzee apes developed from, and magic god fairies had no part in this process."

If you completely deny human evolution you're an evolution denier.

If you think you accept human evolution but you stick your magic fairy in there somewhere, either as an inventor of evolution (as if natural processes need magical inventors), or a fairy who uses evolution, or a fairy who guides evolution, you're an evolution denier because there's no supernatural magic in evolutionary biology.

You evolution deniers, whether you prefer Genesis instead of science or pollute evolution with god bullshit, make up 84% of Idiot America's population. Your large numbers don't make you correct. It only shows that your disease has become an epidemic in backward countries like the United States of Jeebus.

To know why biologists ridicule you evolution deniers (publicly or privately, they all think you're idiots), you need to understand you are considered equal to holocaust deniers because you are denying an obvious truth. It's fair to say holocaust deniers, besides being insane, are stupid assholes. You evolution deniers are no different. You're also insane and most definitely you're stupid assholes, which you have demonstrated repeatedly with your never ending war against science education, your constant lying about science and scientists, and your refusal to educate yourselves, preferring to hide in your childish idiotic magical fantasy world, terrified of science because you don't want to make your dead Jeebus cry.

Now do you retarded Christians understand why everyone points at you and laughs?

The vast majority of scientists are normal. A small minority of scientists are full of shit. They're Christians and they disgrace their profession.

This fake scientist for Jeebus was asked a good question and he couldn't answer it. All he could do was invoke his religious brainwashing.

••••••

Shermer followed up, asking Giberson, then why believe in God at all?

"It makes the world so much more interesting," Giberson said. "The mystery of God's existence is a more satisfying mystery than the mystery of how can all this arise out of a particle."

But what is your evidence, Shermer said, for belief in God?

"I was raised believing in God, so for me, the onus would be on someone to stop me from believing," Giberson said, adding that "there is a certain momentum that is already there."

••••••

A universe with a magical being is more interesting than reality? A real scientist would never say that.

The asshole for Jeebus said "He is sympathetic toward the motivations of creationists and scientists alike, though he is fed up with much of intelligent design as well as hard-core atheists."

He's sympathetic toward the motivations of creationist idiots who want to throw out all of science and who want to destroy science education to defend their death cult.

Fed up with much of magical intelligent design creationism? Does this fake scientist think some magic is OK?

Not believing in bullshit is hard-core? Not being a stupid asshole for Jeebus is hard-core?

These are the kind of idiots who say a magic god fairy and evolutionary biology can co-exist, but they never explain what their fairy is good for. If it didn't have anything to do with the development of life, then where do they stick their god of the gaps? What other branch of science do they pollute with supernatural magic?

The fake scientist is Karl W. Giberson, a physics professor at Eastern Nazarene College in Massachusetts. From their website: "Bridging the gap between the best in education and the best in the Christian Faith." That figures. This idiot for Jeebus couldn't get a job at a real university but a Bible Thumping college hired him.

PZ wrote about this superstitious moron here.

Superstitious Christians believe in things. I don't believe in anything. I know with 100% certainty what is true and what isn't true.

Christians have faith. They love the word faith because it's their excuse to believe any bullshit, no matter how insane it is. For Christians faith is a virtue. Christian brainwashers tell children to have faith, as if having magical fantasies is a good thing.

Faith is not a virtue. It's a mental illness, and for most Christians (and Muslim terrorists) it's incurable. Most Christians have virtually no chance of ever throwing out the intense brainwashing they endured when they were children. To reinforce their faith, the preachers, whose careers depend on making sure Christians never recover from their disease, keep promising a magical heaven as a reward for believing in Jeebus, while promising eternal torture for any Christian who dares to have an original thought.

Fortunately thousands of Christians are able to grow up and throw out the Jeebus stupidity, but they are easily replaced by the next brainwashed generation. Thanks to the fine art of destroying young minds, preachers will never have to get a real job.

I don't believe in anything. I know what's true and I know what's bullshit. I know these things thanks to scientific evidence and simple common sense. For example I am 100% certain there are not any pink elephants orbiting Mars. I know elephants, no matter what their color, are not floating in outer space because that's a ridiculous idea. For the same reason I'm 100% certain there's no magic god fairy hiding in the universe somewhere, because that's as crazy as the orbiting elephants idea. Common sense is a wonderful thing. Unfortunately Christians don't have it.

I know what's true. I know that everything, from the beginning of the universe, to the development of the first simple living cells on Earth and the evolution of every species, was a natural process. Completely natural. No supernatural intervention from any magic fairies. I know these things thanks to scientific evidence and because I'm not an insane Christian.

Christians have a serious problem. It's their disease called faith. This disease is dangerous. Anyone who reads about the religious violence every day in the newspaper knows faith is dangerous. The faith disease also makes people stupid. Just look at Idiot America. We have millions of idiots who believe dinosaurs lived at the same time as people, despite overwhelming evidence that shows those creatures went extinct 65 million years before the development of modern human apes.

Faith also makes people assholes. Just look at the countless Christians who think they have every right to tell everyone else what they can do or not do in their private lives.

Is faith good for anything? Of course not. Believing in bullshit that couldn't possibly have any evidence can only waste a person's entire life. Faith needs to be eradicated.

Some Christians notice having faith in bullshit is not really good enough to justify their beliefs. So they invent evidence for their fantasies. An example is the most disgusting and most idiotic religious belief ever invented, a belief that the entire Christian religion depends on for its existence. The resurrection of the dead Jeebus corpse into a zombie.

These Christians invoke dead witnesses. Hundreds of these witnesses, according to gullible Christians, were convinced Jeebus returned to life after his internal organs were decomposing for three days. Jeebus was very dead, but then he was alive, and it must be true because those dead witnesses said it was true.

Christians, being the uneducated morons they are, don't even know what evidence is. Dead witnesses, especially witnesses who have been dead for twenty centuries, are not evidence for anything.

Also Christians, if you're going to make ridiculous fantastic claims, you're going to have to come up with some overwhelming and extremely fantastic scientific evidence to justify your bullshit. But the only thing Christians offer is some witnesses who were as gullible as today's retarded Christians.

Look it Christians. Dead people stay dead. That's a scientific fact. If you want to throw out scientific facts so you can live in a childish magical fantasy world, that's fine with me. Just don't complain when normal people ridicule you relentlessly for the rest of your pathetic wasted lives.

Cowardly Christians attack science education. This organization defends science education.

NCSE's coverage of surveys and polls

I appreciate what the NCSE is doing to defend science education from the Christian assholes who want to destroy it, but unfortunately NCSE is part of the religious insanity problem that makes the Christian war against science education possible. The NCSE sucks up to religious idiots. They think being dishonest is a good strategy to defend the teaching of biology.

For example here they ask good questions but they let professional idiots answer those questions.

"In public discussions of evolution and creationism, we are sometimes told by creationists and opponents of religion alike that we must choose between belief in creation and acceptance of the theory of evolution, between religion and science. Is this a fair demand? Is the choice that stark? Can one believe in God and accept evolution? Can one both accept what science teaches and engage in religious belief and practice?"

The problem with both accepting the facts of evolutionary biology and believing there's a magic god fairy watching over us, is these superstitious idiots need to stick their god somewhere, and virtually always they stick it into evolution, as if magic is one of its mechanisms.

That's not accepting evolution. It's polluting it. In Idiot America only 16% of Americans (recently up from 14%) accept evolution as a completely natural process. That's disgraceful and it shouldn't be tolerated. The NCSE thinks they are doing some good, but the way they defend science education, while always winning in court, is only making things worse in the long run. If America is ever going to get rid of its well deserved reputation of being infested with uneducated morons, we got to eradicate Christianity, so sucking up to Christians is not going to accomplish anything.

Religious scientists aren't discriminated against because they believe in a fairy. Their problem is they're insane and a disgrace to their profession.

Scientist alleges religious discrimination in Ky.

"An astronomer argues that his Christian faith and his peers's belief that he is an evolution skeptic kept him from getting a prestigious job as the director of a new student observatory at the University of Kentucky."

A University of Kentucky biology professor compared allowing this idiot to be director of their student observatory would be equivalent to having "the Creation Museum set up an outreach office in biology".

If you're one of the rare scientists who believes in a magical fairy, and even worse you're an evolution denier, you're a fake scientist and a disgrace to your profession. You made a bad career choice. You're more qualified to be a professional Bible Thumper. You certainly shouldn't be allowed near university students.

Why superstitious morons deserve contempt

I found this comment here and I agree with it.

"Making fun of people for rejecting facts and science and instead believing absurd things like dinosaurs and people living together, ... is not religious bigotry. It's a natural response to abject stupidity and gullibility."

I ridicule religious people because they are extremely stupid and gullible. However if that was their only problem I would be willing to ignore them. Unfortunately all Christians (and members of every other idiotic religion) do everything they can to infect innocent young children with their disease. That's disgraceful and this child abuse deserves contempt.

If you're a religious person and you think you're moderate, you're wrong. There's nothing moderate about being an idiot. Believing in a magic god fairy, even if that's your only religious belief, makes you a backward hick, as gullible and worthless as any Bible thumper or terrorist.

Wake up Idiot America. This is not the Dark Ages. It's the 21st century and amazing scientific discoveries are being made every day. Stop praying to your invisible fairy and grow up. Stop being part of the problem.

Wonderful progress for Idiot America. Only 84% of our population is retarded, down from 86%.

A small minority of Americans hold the ‘secular evolution’ view that humans evolved with no influence from God — but the number has risen from 9% in 1982 to 16% today.

Evolution does not need any adjectives. Evolution is called “evolution”, not “secular evolution” which is as stupid as calling gravity “secular gravity”.

16% of Americans get it. That’s up from 14% and it used to be only 9%. For any civilized country this would be disgraceful but for Idiot America this is excellent progress. This means only 84% of Americans either completely reject evolution, or they think magic is one of evolution’s mechanisms. Not too bad for the most backward nation in the Western world.

By the way, Corkey, your god fairy didn’t invent anything. Natural processes like evolution don’t need magical inventors.

One more thing.

40% Of Americans Reject Evolution” is not correct. The gallup poll shows that 84% of Americans reject evolution. When people stick a magic god fairy into evolutionary biology, that is equivalent to denying the fact that evolution is a natural process, which means they are evolution deniers, which means they’re retarded.

Christians, if you believe in the Resurrection, you're insane.

Read this carefully, gullible Christians.

Miracles are impossible. The impossible never happens. This is an extremely simple concept, but you Christians don't get it. You are willing to believe any bullshit your brainwashers told you to believe, no matter how disgusting and ridiculous it is.

There's nothing more disgusting and more impossible than your stinking Jeebus corpse becoming a zombie. You Christians believe it anyway because you're batshit crazy.

Christianity is doomed because the existence of your death cult depends entirely on the zombie Jeebus fantasy. How much longer do you idiots think you can get away with convincing future generations to believe so much insane bullshit?

This ridiculous fantasy is what makes terrorism possible.

Christian morons, how does this heaven business work? If I understand your cowardly belief correctly, your soul (whatever that is) magically flies up to the clouds (or who knows where) and then magically transforms itself into your disgusting dead body, except now you're alive again, living in some magical place infested with other Christian idiots like yourselves. Jeebus must be waving his magic wand like crazy to make this bullshit work.

And your magical selves live forever in this fantasy land, for trillions and trillions of years. Long after the entire universe goes extinct, you're still alive playing with your harp, bored out of your fucking mind.

In every conflict between science and religion, science has always won.

There is a fundamental difference between religion, which is based on authority, and science, which is based on observation and reason. Science will win because it works.

My target audience: Christians who are still young enough to be saved from a lifetime of stupidity.

My target audience is not atheists, also known as people who are not superstitious morons.

My target audience are not the Bible Thumpers, also known as subhumans. They are hopelessly retarded and I would prefer they stay away from here.

This blog is for young Christians who are still in high school and who still have a small chance of escaping from the idiotic magical fantasy world they were born into.

If you're one of those young people who are starting to wonder if your parents and your idiot preachers are uneducated morons, you came to the right place. If you have at least average intelligence and if you read this whole blog, especially the posts with the label evidence for evolution, and if you listen to and/or read the speech in the first post (see the label Ken Miller), then you know enough to figure out the following 11 things.

1. Your parents are stupid.

2. Your preacher is a worthless asshole.

3. Evolution is a basic scientific fact, the strongest fact of science.

4. The development of the modern human ape species was a completely natural process. Magic god fairies had absolutely nothing to do with it. A god's magic wand was not necessary to invent, use, or guide evolution.

5. Every god ever invented is a god of the gaps.

6. Sticking a god into a gap is stupid for many reasons. Thanks to never ending scientific progress the god of the gaps is constantly being chased out of its hiding places. Cowardly Christians are so terrified of reality (no life after death) they try to stick their magic fairy into those hiding places anyway. Their philosophy is if something looks complicated then it must have been magically created. The truth is if something looks complicated to a Christian, that only means the Christian is a moron.

7. If a scientific problem has not been solved yet, that's not an excuse to invoke a fairy's magic wand. Gaps in human knowledge are called research opportunities or points for future understanding. They are not hiding places for a magical being.

8. The idea there's a magic god fairy hiding in the universe somewhere is as ridiculous and childish and idiotic as the idea there's a magic Easter Bunny who hides hard boiled colored eggs for small children to find.

9. People don't believe in a god because a god is real. They believe in a god because they are lazy cowardly morons who have been so brainwashed they have lost their ability to think, and even worse they have lost what comes naturally to every young person -- curiosity. A desire to understand instead of giving up and invoking magic, as in "god did it, problem solved".

10. You young Christians may have already lost your curiosity about the natural world, but it's not too late to get it back. All you got to do is think. I can't teach you how to think. That's something you got to learn how to do on your own. But here's a hint. If you believe the word spiritual is anything other than bullshit, you're not thinking.

11. Just remember -- there is only reality. Everything else is bullshit.

Our closest living cousins, the chimpanzee apes, have a better short term memory than human apes.

Chimpanzees demonstrate their superior short term memory in this YouTube video.

It's really amazing to watch. The humans don't even come close.

Why do chimpanzee apes have a better short term memory than human apes?

Natural selection selects for advantages that keep a creature alive. Advantages accumulate and spread throughout a population.

But what happens when an evolved trait no longer becomes necessary? For example when one lineage of fishes winds up in a cave in total darkness. Then seeing becomes useless. If a mutation makes eyesight worse, that fish still survives because it can't see anyway. Since better eyesight is not selected for by natural selection, mutations that make eyesight worse accumulate, and eventually this lineage of fish becomes completely blind.

Perhaps our ancient pre-human ancestors needed a strong short term memory to survive, and so this advantage was selected for. Our ancient ape ancestors who had a better memory were more likely to survive long enough to reproduce and their genes were passed on to the next generation.

But then something happened that made an excellent short term memory less important. According to this BBC News article a scientist said "These studies tell us that elaborate short-term memory skills may have had a much more salient function in early humans than is present in modern humans, perhaps due to our increasing reliance on language-based memory skills."

Our increasing reliance on language-based memory skills meant that a superior short-term memory became less necessary and so this advantage was not selected for, just like better eyesight was not selected for a lineage of fish that lived in completely dark caves.

Some more information from the same BBC News article:

The shortest time duration, 210 milliseconds, did not leave enough time for the subjects to explore the screen by eye movement - something we do all the time when we read.

This is evidence, the researchers believe, that young chimps have a photographic memory which allows them to memorise a complex scene or pattern at a glance. This is sometimes present in human children but declines with age, they say.

"Young chimpanzees have a better memory than human adults," Dr Matsuzawa told BBC News.

"We are still underestimating the intellectual capability of chimpanzees, our evolutionary neighbours."

Dr Lisa Parr, who works with chimps at the Yerkes Primate Center at Emory University in Atlanta, US, described the research as "ground-breaking".

She said the importance of these primates for understanding the skills necessary for the evolution of modern humans was unparalleled.

"They are our closest living relatives and thus are in a unique position to inform us about our evolutionary heritage," said Dr Parr.

How are you Christian creationists doing? Are you keeping up with this? Do you better understand why everyone laughs at you when you deny our evolutionary relationship with the chimpanzee apes? Ready to join the 21st century yet? I didn't think so.

Another better video about the same thing:

Man Vs Chimp - memory test

A prediction that will most certainly be correct: Tomorrow a suicide bomber will murder several innocent people, and he or she will be a Muslim.

Since the 9/11/2001 atrocities there has been at least one suicide bombing every single day. What's rare is when there's only one insane Muslim murdering people for Allah. Almost always there's several suicide bombings in one day.

Not all Muslims are suicide bombers, but all Muslims belong to a suicide bomber religion. 100% of these insane assholes are Muslims. Christians, even the Christian thugs, as stupid as they are, never commit these atrocities. It's always a Muslim. What is wrong with these subhumans?

There couldn't possibly be a magical heaven but Muslim terrorists believe it anyway. The Christians are part of the problem because they share the same childish cowardly belief in a life after death that makes terrorism possible.

Also interesting is the fact that all Muslim terrorists are evolution-deniers, also known as creationists because they believe a god fairy with a magic wand created creatures, especially people, out of nothing, which is another childish belief they share with Christians.

Christians, if you want to fight terrorism, you should become a good example for your Muslim friends. All you got to do is grow up and stop being superstitious idiots.

From May 1859, the origin of the Origin of Species, it was impossible for an intelligent person to be religious.

David Horton from Australia is brilliant. So brilliant that I have to admit you're wasting your time here because your time would be better spent reading David Horton's excellent posts.

A curious thing about creationists. I try to study the minds of these strange people, who still, 150 years after Alfred Wallace, retain the primitive mindset of the eighteenth century when people thought that animal species, including the naked ape, had been created, each in its own place, by a finger-pointing white-bearded figure in the sky. It is as if we still had, living among us, people who believed in phlogiston, or humors, or the heart as the seat of emotions; a glimpse back into a distant past of primitive ideas about the world around us.

So I study them, much as a time traveler visiting the Dark Ages might, or a traveler to the deepest Amazon finding a previously uncontacted tribe.

And in the case of creationists, these strange throwbacks living still among us, I try to see the world through their eyes, wonder what strange shadows that imperfect organ is throwing on to the retina of these good simple people as they struggle to come to grips with the realities of several hundred years of scientific advances.

The rest of it is here.

This is also excellent: And I marvel again at the creationists and their stupidity which has such strong foundations in infinite ignorance.

This is what my blog is all about: From May 1859, the origin of the Origin of Species, it was impossible for an intelligent person to be religious.
