"What do you get from being an atheist?"
Theism is a mental illness. I'm glad I'm not infected with it.
Atheists have to think. If they don't understand how something happened, they can't say "The Magic Man did it." Thinking is a wonderful thing.
I used to be a brainwashed Catholic. When I grew up I threw out the bullshit. It's nice to know there is not some magical creature hiding somewhere in the universe and watching us. Atheists are free to do what they want.
Of course atheists don't have a childish cowardly belief in a magical 2nd life. That's a good thing. I prefer reality.
Atheism is an acceptance of reality. Reality is a wonderful thing because it's interesting and because it's real.
"Darwin was the first to use data from nature to convince people that evolution is true, and his idea of natural selection was truly novel. It testifies to his genius that the concept of natural theology, accepted by most educated Westerners before 1859, was vanquished within only a few years by a single five-hundred-page book. On the Origin of Species turned the mysteries of life's diversity from mythology into genuine science." -- Jerry Coyne
