Here in northwestern Illinois, I live about 150 miles from Chicago, and that's a good thing. The violence is out of control, especially on the South Side and the West Side. I could take a train there but I'm never going back.

‘It’s gotta stop:’ 7-year-old girl shot, killed during family’s Fourth of July party
CHICAGO – For the third consecutive weekend, a child under ten years old was shot and killed in Chicago Saturday night.
The heartbroken family of 7-year-old Natalie Wallace say they will never be the same after her outrageous killing, as they make an emotional plea for justice and an end to gun violence in the city Sunday.

The shooting comes after several children have been recently killed by gun violence in Chicago, including a 3-year-old boy and a 13-year-old girl in Austin.
