Europeans, Asians, and Australians, imagine living in a country where half the population thinks evolution is bullshit and most of the other half thinks magic is one of the mechanisms of evolution.
I don't have to imagine it because I live in the United States of Jeebus also known as Idiot America.
We have a very popular scientist (Bill Nye) who explains science on television to young children. He recently appeared in a video (which I wrote about elsewhere on this blog) where he asked Christian parents to not destroy the minds of their children with the Christian fantasy called magical creation out of nothing. Millions have watched the video and the response has been mostly disgusting. We have the evolution deniers who call themselves theistic evolutionists and we have the evolution deniers who call themselves creationists. They have been showing off their stupidity and they seem to be proud of it.
How fucking hard is it to understand magic is not real? It must be very hard because most Americans believe in magic. They love magic so much they are willing to throw out (or pollute) any science that conflicts with their magical fantasies.
They call their magic fantasy "god" and they say their "god" loves them. Also, their god magically created the human ape species out of nothing and gave them a "purpose". Apparently the purpose was for them to be fucking idiots.
I often wonder what it's like to live in a country that is not the world's largest insane asylum.
"Darwin was the first to use data from nature to convince people that evolution is true, and his idea of natural selection was truly novel. It testifies to his genius that the concept of natural theology, accepted by most educated Westerners before 1859, was vanquished within only a few years by a single five-hundred-page book. On the Origin of Species turned the mysteries of life's diversity from mythology into genuine science." -- Jerry Coyne
