The New York Times article at Roving Defender of Evolution, and of Room for God is about a pro-science wimp who sucks up to religious stupidity. Most of the comments are bullshit about religious fantasies being compatible with reality. There's no shortage of fucking idiots in Idiot America.
I have extreme contempt for religious assholes (and wimpy atheists) who pretend a magic god fairy can be compatible with 21st century science. Science has repeatedly killed the idiotic god fantasy. The idea there's a supernatural creature with unlimited magical powers hiding somewhere in the universe is bullshit that must be eradicated. People who disagree are equal to the terrorists and science deniers they suck up to, equally stupid, equally insane, and equally part of the problem.
The title of the article, "Roving Defender of Evolution, and of Room for God" can be translated to "Roving Defender of SCIENCE, and of Room for MAGIC" which is of course ridiculous.
Some of the comments at Roving Defender of Evolution, and of Room for God are excellent. Two examples of the best comments:
Religion should have no place in a civilized society.
Religion is a cruel hoax sustained by miracles, fear, superstition and ignorance. Evolution is a science sustained by proven facts. Take your pick.
"Darwin was the first to use data from nature to convince people that evolution is true, and his idea of natural selection was truly novel. It testifies to his genius that the concept of natural theology, accepted by most educated Westerners before 1859, was vanquished within only a few years by a single five-hundred-page book. On the Origin of Species turned the mysteries of life's diversity from mythology into genuine science." -- Jerry Coyne
