California is grappling with two of its biggest wildfires in almost 90 years — and more lightning is on the way

The fast-spreading blazes in Northern California are now among the top five largest fires since the state began recording these statistics in 1932. More than 100,000 people have been evacuated, and the state is appealing to the rest of the United States plus Canada and Australia for assistance.
