Religious brainwashing

A comment I wrote at the New York Times: Is the Catholic Church Beyond Redemption?

Until I was 18 years old I was a Catholic. There was no sexual child abuse thank goodness, but there was another kind of child abuse, religious brainwashing. "You must have faith." "Christ died for your sins." "The Catholic Church is the one true religion."

The only reason primitive religions survive in the 21st century is the brainwashing of gullible children. There is no excuse for this child abuse. All religions are wrong and they all should be thrown out.
