I just played chess with someone who lives in Maputo, Mozambique. After these games I like to explore the places I never heard of before and learn a few things.

Mozambique is located on the southeast coast of Africa, not far from Madagascar. Maputo is the largest city, population about 1,800,000.

"The 2007 census found that Christians made up 56.1% of Mozambique's population and Muslims comprised 17.9% of the population. 7.3% of the people held other beliefs, mainly animism, and 18.7% had no religious beliefs."

The Christian thing is probably thanks to missionary morons. 18.7% of the population are not interested in religious bullshit and that's a good thing.

What is animism?

"Animism is the religious belief that objects, places and creatures all possess a distinct spiritual essence. Potentially, animism perceives all things—animals, plants, rocks, rivers, weather systems, human handiwork and perhaps even words—as animated and alive. Animism is the oldest known type of belief system in the world that even predates paganism. It is still practiced in a variety of forms in many traditional societies."

Not that anyone cares but the chess game should have been a draw but my opponent was not watching his clock and he ran out of time, losing the game.
